Fall is officially here and Winter is on it’s way! I went thought my lipstick drawer and collected 5 Lipsticks for Fall & Winter: Maybelline Edition. I decided that I wanted to spotlight one of my favorite liptick brands and share with you my top 5 lipsticks for the season!
Let me preface this that Maybelline lipsticks are my FAVORITE at the drugstore. They are affordable, pigmented and oh so creamy. No this post is not sponsored, but man I wish it was. As a reviewer of Beauty products it can sometimes be hard to discuss a product, that’s not the case with Maybelline’s lipsticks. I technically prefer their matte line but their color sensational stuff in general is great. I tell EVERYONE that asks me about affordable lipsticks to check out Maybelline’s line.
There are certain products that you would grab in a hypothetical fire- if I knew my family and dog were safe outside… You bet your bottom, I would grab Maybelline’s lipsticks along with my makeup grab bag (it contains all my absolute favorite products high-end and drugstore). Don’t judge me. That’s how much I love these.
One of the best features of this product is that these lipsticks look great on people with textured lips. Many lipsticks will draw unwanted attention to textured lips. Its creamy formula glides on without tugging and applies evenly. Its price point is great; depending on where I buy them I can grab them for 4.49-6.49. That’s a great price point. They aren’t super long wearing- but if I don’t plan on eating fried chicken, or a burrito I can typically get these lipsticks to last 4-5 hours before re applying. Now, when my daughter thinks my lipstick is pretty it doesn’t last as long.
So, what’s on trend for the fall and winter months? We’re going to continue to see the vampy lip, nude lip (a classic) and a ‘your lips but better’ trend. With the holidays headed out way Red’s are always more popular. Here are my favorite picks for the upcoming festivities.
Warm Me Up: For me this is the perfect nude. It has a slightly brown/ pink hue and its formula glides on smoothly. While it’s not matte- I’m okay with that. It’s a great comfortable every day shade. When I don’t want to think about lipstick and blush pairings I grab this lipstick.
Touch of Spice: Its kind of an odd color to describe. On my skin tone (fair) it reads as a medium- medium dark muted rose with a bit of warm berry. This particular lipstick is from their matte collection and looks great on every skin tone.
Rich Ruby: The perfect holiday red. The perfect Red in general. It’s vibrant but not too bright and falls right on trend with ‘Vampy Lips’. It’s a rich, beautiful, creamy (true to name) Ruby red. Also, it’s MATTE (happy dance). I personally dislike glittery red lipsticks. It reminds me of the red lipstick that was worn in the 90’s. No thank you.
Divine Wine: If you’re new to the Vampy Lip trend- or aren’t sure on which bandwagon to jump on. Try this shade. Its friendly on most skin tones, its gorgeous, and its one of the most forgiving vampy lip shades I’ve ever tried. Try it- I’m begging you!
Burgundy Blush: I’ll be honest this shade is not going to be everyone’s favorite. When I first tried shades like this I was mortified at how white and ghostly I looked. Now that I’ve become more comfortable I realized that I LOVE this look on me. Burgundy Blush is a true Ox blood color, it’s perfectly on trend this fall/ winter and it’s gorgeous! Also, this lipstick makes my teeth look white-, which you know I love that little extra benefit!
The Honorable Mentions: Confession time. I won 17 of the Maybelline lipsticks. Whether you just judged me for that statement, or you want to go shopping in my collection I just wanted to make the point clear that I really love this product. Because I own and love so many, I couldn’t just ignore the rest. I’ve chosen three honorable mentions that are on trend for the fall & winter months.
Honorable Mention #1 Blissful berry. It’s a sheer purple berry. Its glossy, uber comfortable to wear and its great for someone who is nervous or apprehensive about trying a darker colored lipstick. It’s gorgeous.
Honorable Mention #2 Bit of Berry. This is so so so pretty! Its one of those lipsticks that make me feel like a beautiful woman. It’s a rosy/ light berry color. Its flattering on all ages, and lets face it everyone needs a color like this in their collection.
Honorable Mention #3 Siren in Scarlet. This is a bright, true matte red lipstick. Its not an every day red lipstick, its brighter and has more of a orange undertone- however it is not an orangey red, it is still a true red it just isn’t a blue based red. Did that make sense?
Have you ever tried any of Maybelline’s lipsticks? What’s your favorite shade?
